After determining what sort of promotions you want to engage in,
the second step is letting people know!
Creating a well thought out piece of ad copy is the most important
step. Simply barking your message at the audience doesn't work. This
is the most common mistake made by local production teams. In a
world of grey, you have to stand out with colorful copy.
Three other important aspects to advertising are Demographics,
Reach, and Frequency. For example, if you sell toys, advertising in
the AARP news letter isn't in your best interest. Once you've hit
the right Demo, you must weigh the reach, or how many people will
get the message, and Frequency, or how many times a person will
receive the message.
It's not rocket science, but it's a lot to consider when your
dollars are at stake. Do you have time in your day to make sure your
advertisements are as effective as they can be?
